• Identifying The Ideal Cheerleading Competitions

A cheerleading competition is an important event for most of the cheer and dance squads around the United States and abroad; however, finding the competition that is best suited for your particular squad can be intimidating, frustrating and sometimes complicated, as there are so many different institutions and companies that host these types of events. That makes it even more important to make sure that you ask good questions to help ensure that the squad chooses an event that will offer the most fun and beneficial competitiveness.

One of the key things which you will need to bear in mind is what type of team you have; college, high school, etc. You have to investigate which competitions actually are targeted to your group. Additionally, remember to determine if there are special guidelines in place, like gender requirements, because some events will permit coed squads while some are girls only. Oftentimes the competition is also broken down into the number of participants on the squad; for instance 12 or fewer, 13 to 16, and larger groups of 17 to 20. This generally depends on which of the cheerleading associations is organizing the event.

Another important consideration when looking for the right cheerleading competition is how much money the squad wants and is able to afford to spend. While most of the events hosted do have fairly reasonable entry fees, the amount of money that it costs to actually get there can climb quite quickly. You may have to invest in new cheerleading uniforms or other accessories, and you may have to charter a bus and pay for out-of-town accommodations, depending on where the event is located.

So, you will have to decide if your squad wishes to stay regional or would prefer to travel. If all are in favor of traveling, then what can you afford for hotels? In addition, you should check to see that that the competition meets your requirements, as some teams are actually restricted by the National Cheerleading Association regarding where and when they are able to compete.

There are different rules and regulations involved with a cheerleading competition because of the different organizations or companies that host them. Prior to sending in any registration fees or making a commitment, it is always a good idea to speak with the organization’s rep in person or at least on the phone. They can give you all of the details, thus ensuring that this competition is right for you and that your squad meets all of the requirements.
